File Comparison

The File Comparison process compares the contents of two files of the same type and highlights the differences. This process can be done through the Compare option in the right-click context menu in DM Explorer or by clicking the Compare button in the file viewing screen.

Selecting Documents to Compare

  • In the DM Explorer screen, select the file(s) to be compared.
  • Right-click on the selected files and click Compare.

  • Comparison can also be done from the document viewing screen. When the file is open, click the Compare button at the top of the screen to start the comparison.

Comparison Process

  • When one file is selected, the comparison screen will open, and the user will be prompted to select a second file. Both files must be of the same format (e.g., PDF -> PDF, DOCX -> DOCX).
  • When two files of the same format are selected, the comparison function will automatically apply to the selected documents.
  • After selecting the files, if there are different versions of the documents, users can select the version from the version selection field in the comparison screen.

Viewing Differences

  • The differences between the two files will be highlighted in blue (added content) and red (deleted content).
  • The right panel will show which page the differences are on, and users can click on that page to view the differences.

Downloading Comparison Results

  • Once the comparison is complete, click the Download button in the upper-right corner of the screen to download the comparison result file.
  • The downloaded file will have the differences marked.

  • File Type Restriction: The comparison process can only be done between files of the same type. For example, only PDF files can be compared with other PDF files, and DOCX files can only be compared with other DOCX files.
  • Comparison Result: The comparison result can be used to analyze the differences between different versions or contents of files.
  • File Selection: When one file is selected, the user is prompted to select a second file for comparison. Both files must be of the same type, and only under this condition can the comparison be performed.
