Recycle Bin Management and Restore Options
The Recycle Bin is a temporary storage area for files and folders deleted by the user. Contents in the Recycle Bin can be restored before permanent deletion or permanently removed. The Recycle Bin can be accessed by clicking the Recycle Bin tab.
Fields in the Recycle Bin
Field Name | Description |
---|---|
Restore | Restores deleted files or folders to their original location. |
Delete | Permanently deletes selected files or folders from the Recycle Bin. This action cannot be undone. |
Empty Recycle Bin | Permanently deletes all items in the Recycle Bin. |
Actions Menu | Used for performing bulk or individual operations. |
Settings | Menu that determines how long files will be retained in the Recycle Bin. |
Recycle Bin Operations

Restoring Items:
- Items can be restored via the Actions menu or by right-clicking on the selected file or folder.
- Restored items will be moved back to their original location before deletion.

Permanently Deleting Items:
- The Delete option in the right-click menu or the Actions menu can be used to delete a single file or folder.
- The Empty Recycle Bin option permanently deletes all contents in the Recycle Bin.

Performing Bulk Actions:
- Multiple items can be selected in the Actions menu to perform bulk Restore or Delete operations.
Recycle Bin Settings
The Recycle Bin Settings screen defines how long deleted files and folders will be stored before being permanently removed. These settings can be accessed by clicking the Settings icon in the upper-right corner of the Recycle Bin panel.
Setting | Description |
---|---|
Auto Deletion | When enabled, files and folders in the Recycle Bin will be automatically deleted after a specified number of days. |
Auto Deletion Days | If auto deletion is enabled, users can enter the number of days files will remain in the Recycle Bin before being permanently deleted. |
Save / Cancel | Click Save to confirm changes or Cancel to discard modifications. |
Authorization and Usage Conditions
- Authorization: Users can only see items they deleted or have permission to access in the Recycle Bin.
- Filtering: The Recycle Bin contents can be filtered based on specific criteria.
- Automatic Cleanup: Items in the Recycle Bin can be automatically deleted after a set period, configurable in system settings.
Additional Notes
- Restored items are moved back to their original location, effectively undoing the deletion.
- Contents in the Recycle Bin are stored for a specified period but may be automatically deleted based on system administrator settings.
- Bulk deletion actions cannot be undone, so they should be used carefully.
